Diane’s Values

What are Diane’s values?
I believe the family is the most important aspect of our society. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, I am pro-life and believe marriage should be defined as being between one man and one woman. All decisions that I make at the legislature are based on how they will affect the family.

How does Diane feel about taxes?
When the leaders of the General Assembly pushed for a state income tax, I fought them every step of the way. When they introduced increases to the state sales tax, I voted against them every time. The solution is not more taxes but better control on state spending and continuing to insist on more accountability with your tax dollars.

What has Diane done for senior citizens?
During my years as a nurse educator,  I started the Sumner County Alzheimer’s Support Group, and I continuously have fought all efforts that take money from people on fixed incomes - efforts to raise the state sales tax and the push for a state income tax. Both have the hardest impact on Senior Citizens.
I have supported the senior property tax relief and will continue to work for it's implimentation in my district.

How does Diane feel about Health care?
As a nurse, I have been a leader in health care advocacy and reform. I have chaired several TennCare reform task forces and believe that TennCare was mismanaged from the beginning.
As a member of the TennCare Oversight Committee, I continue
to monitor the TennCare reform and the new CoverTennessee programs that attempt to offer choices in healthcare coverage.
I believe health care savings accounts need greater consideration for bringing longterm solutions for health coverage.

Is education a priority for Diane?

I believe in funding each student’s needs, supporting classroom teachers, and allowing parents to be in control of their child’s education.
